Answering with Love
Being interconnected, during this humanitarian crisis, can be powerfully painful. We can mirror and reflect the violence leaving us isolated and in pain. We can be vulnerable and engage from and with love. We can sit and watch the news or scroll on devices and be grateful that, ‘they aren’t coming for us.’ As someone who has professionally served children, families, adults and all the in between since the late 1990s, I will share a few thoughts.
The current and rising violence is creating trauma wounds so deep that the impact will be generations and generations of our children and grandchildren and their children’s children. Our mental health crisis and addiction crisis is skyrocketing because of this violence.
Continuing to sever Spirits of marginalized communities by policing with violence will impact everyone in ways that we cannot collectively understand with our intellectual minds. Our stories already prove to us what the current outcome has been when we violently police. Where do our stories show us the outcomes of this violence? First Nations. American Slavery. Jim Crow. Nazi Germany. The outcomes of the US violence now are evident. Our neighbors are being kidnapped, murdered, set on fire, silenced, and terrorized.
We have everything we need to stop this story line and write a story of Love. We have the technology to communicate with each other, teach each other, and act in and with Love. Actions in Love are stronger than the guns shooting at our sisters and brothers.
Actions in Love will look different for everyone.
If you are wondering how did this happen? What can I do? Where can I help? Part of my suggestion is to educate yourself. If learning on your own is too much, I am available for consultations, teaching, and recommendations. Below are some of my favorites that teach about how and why we got here.

May this message land with you in Love. May you feel safe. May you be healthy and well. May you be surrounded by loving people. May you have the food and resources you need. May you have the privilege of rest and warmth.
in Love, Jess
